Gilbert’s CarpetsPlus Color Tile in Big Rapids, Michigan, recycled more than 5.5 tons of carpet cushion last year.That’s right, 5.5 TONS.
Doing the right thing has actually brought people off the streets and into the Gilberts’ store. Colleen Tabaczynski, a salesperson at Gilbert’s for the past eight years, told me that a young man stopped in a few weeks ago with a question. He asked about a subject that appears to matter to more and more people. He asked if they recycled. Colleen immediately said yes. He stopped by a few days later with truckloads of pad.
Gilbert’s CarpetsPlus Color Tile has a baling machine that makes it easier to recycle pad. After it’s been baled, it is picked up and taken to a manufacturer or pad recycling company.
Their location in Rockford, Michigan, also contributes to the recycling effort.
